Identifying the location of an emergency is the most important factor in the delivery of timely and accurate emergency response services. However, it’s often difficult to describe exact locations out in rural and wilderness areas.
RapidMap have been championed by Triple Zero Victoria (000VIC), partnering with Ambulance Victoria, Parks Victoria, Fire Rescue Victoria, Victoria Police, Victoria SES, Life Saving Victoria, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to develop the Emergency Marker program, providing unique signs in public areas such as reserves, gardens and National Parks.
Emergency markers are composed of a three letter, three number system, with descriptive location-based data recorded for each marker. Triple Zero (000) dispatch operators can then provide specific directional information to responding emergency services, allowing emergency services arrive on scene faster.
